Arrival by car
You arrive on the Swiss highways in Interlaken and take the Wilderswil exit, direction Lauterbrunnen. There is a covered car park, linked with the BLM cable car station. You may also drive to the Schilthornbahn station in Stechelberg where you will find a large number of parking spaces. During the day, you load your luggage into a blue trolley and it will be taken up to Mürren in a separate transport cable car.
The Lauterbrunnen car park is located at the outskirts of the village, just before the train station. Parking spaces can be reserved for a minimum of 5 days (winter) online. Please enter the parking code upon arrival. A separate reservation must be made for each vehicle.
Parking Schilthorn cableway
There is a car park at the Schilthorn Cableway station in Stechelberg. We recommend that holiday guests purchase a 7, 14 or 30 day pre-paid ticket. Take a ticket on entering the car park, go to the automatic payment machine, select the pre-paid option and pay CHF 40.00, CHF 65.00 or CHF 80.00. The ticket is then validated to allow unrestricted exit and access to the car park for a period of 7, 14 or 30 days respectively. The ticket must be inserted into the exit ticket machine and is automatically reissued each time the holder exits the car park.
There are no roads for public access to Mürren and Gimmelwald and both villages are traffic free. Nevertheless there are special permits granted by the local authority for transport and construction companies and local trades to deliver goods and waste disposal. Traffic laws apply to all vehicle owners except farmers who are permitted to drive as and when necessary.
In Mürren everything can be reached within walking distance. If you need assitance with your luggage those two companies may help you:
