Climbing with an impressive view of the surrounding four-thousanders
The classic climbing tour in the Bernese Oberland offers an incomparable experience with views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The exposed peaks should be granted to any climber.
If you want to shorten the morning ascent a little, treat yourself to a night in the Lobhorn Hut, from where you can reach the foot of the Lobhörner in 1h40. The access from Sulwald takes about 2h45.
After all the material has been put on, the wonderful climb over the Zipfelmütze, the Klein and Gross Lobhorn begins.
We have packed a 60m rope, 10 express carabiners and a few slings. With this we can easily climb the routes in difficulty levels 2b to 4c. Since many passages are an alpine path and not a climbing route, the hiking boots also belong in the luggage.
Topos can be found in the climbing guides Interlaken (Vertical Sport) or Plaisir.
Before we abseil into the saddle from the last point, we enjoy the wonderful view once again during an extensive summit rest.
Season
The crossing is possible from June to the beginning of October. The snow conditions vary from year to year and planning must be adjusted accordingly.
In spring and autumn the limestone rock can still be cold due to the altitude. Especially at the entrance there are small rivulets, which are slippery.
Costs
The tour can be made free of charge. Depending on the situation, costs may be incurred for travel by cable car from Isenfluh to Sulwald.
Those who go on the tour with a mountain guide pay the daily fee.
Location
The Lobhörner are situated at around 2500 metres above sea level between the Soustal and the Saustal. They can be reached most easily from Sulwald. A worthwhile tour is also the ascent (downhill) from the Schilthorn.
