Unspoilt landscapes, snow-covered forests and a view of the Wetterhorn; this is exactly how you imagine a snowshoe tour. The Wetterhorn Trail No. 2 can serve as an extension of the Wetterhorn Trail No. 1.  Instead of turning off at Seegaden towards Sibet Schirli, follow the trail across the snow-covered meadows to the Ischboden hut. At Sibet Schirli you will then meet up with the Wetterhorn Trail No. 1 again, via which you can then return to the Hotel Wetterhorn. This trail is suitable for beginners. The tour is signposted with the official signposts.

Getting There

Public transport

Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, Intercity trains run directly from Basel and Lucerne to the Jungfrau Region. Travellers from Zurich have to change in Berne. The trains run every half hour.

Getting there

There are different ways to reach the region by car. The fastest way from Basel and Geneva is via Berne. The fastest route from Zurich is through Lucerne and the Brünig Pass. The pass is open in summer and winter.

From the south, the route goes over the Grimsel or Susten Pass into the region. Both passes are only open in summer. Alternatively, you can take the Simplon Pass and then Lötschberg car transport.

Parking

In the village of Grindelwald there are two public car parks with covered spaces to choose from: Parkhaus Eiger+ (252 parking spaces) and Parkhaus Sportzentrum (160 parking spaces). These cannot be reserved in advance. Further uncovered parking spaces are available throughout the village. There is also the parking area at Grindelwald Grund. There is also a public car park on the upper glacier at the Hotel Wetterhorn. Be careful when there is a lot of snow, only accessible with snow chains or 4x4.
