In the event of a power cut
- Switch off all mains-powered appliances. Once the power has returned, switch the appliances back on one by one to avoid overloading the mains supply.
- Only dial emergency numbers in an emergency and avoid making unnecessary calls.
Get information from the radio (battery-powered). - In winter, wear warm clothing in case the heating fails.
- Use up food from the fridge and freezer first, then unchilled supplies.
- Store drinking water in large containers, as the water supply may be disrupted.
- If necessary, go to the nearest emergency meeting point.
Precautionary measures
- Keep a mobile phone (and possibly a radio with batteries) and a landline telephone to hand.
