Mürren is one of the Jungfrau Region’s two car-free villages. You can only reach the village by aerial cableway or on foot from Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg. This sunny spa resort is the highest permanently inhabited village settlement in the Canton of Bern and lies above the Lauterbrunnen valley trough, which is famous for its history associated with glaciers. Mürren was once a settlement of the Walser (Valais) people and belongs politically to the municipality of Lauterbrunnen. This small Alpine village at 1,650 metres above sea level shares its charm with a secret agent. The 1969 Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” was shot here. The film’s success continues to shape the village at the foot of the Schilthorn today.
