How do I get there?
The journey to Mürren is part of the mountain experience in itself. As a car-free village, Mürren can only be reached by public transport, on foot or by bike.

From Interlaken Ost station, you can reach Mürren in 51 minutes. Take the blue-and-yellow Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) train from platform 2A to Lauterbrunnen. Board the front section of the train, as the rear section continues on to Grindelwald from Zweilütschinen. You then have two options:
- Via Grütschalp (gondola and train): At Lauterbrunnen station, take the gondola to Grütschalp. Here, change to a small train which will take you to Mürren. The journey from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren takes 20 minutes.
- Or via Stechelberg (bus and gondola): In Lauterbrunnen, take the bus towards Stechelberg and travel to the Schilthornbahn station. Then take the gondola (the world’s steepest cable car) to Mürren. This journey takes 30 minutes.

Mürren is car-free. If you’re travelling by car, you’ll need to park it in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg and use public transport. The journey from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 30 minutes.
From Lauterbrunnen, you can travel directly to Mürren on the Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway; if you park in Stechelberg, the world’s steepest cable car, the Schilthornbahn, will take you straight to Mürren.
Please note that parking facilities in Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg are limited, particularly at busy times. We therefore recommend that you use the Park-&-Ride scheme. This allows you to park your car outside the town centre and continue your journey comfortably by public transport – stress-free and without having to search for a parking space.
Zurich Airport
Direct trains run every two hours from Zurich Airport to Interlaken Ost. However, there are also other connections (involving a change in Bern) to choose from. Journey time: approx. 3.5 hours
Basel Airport
You can reach Basel railway station by bus in approx. 15 minutes. From here, there are five direct trains a day to Interlaken Ost. There are numerous other train connections (with a change in Bern or Spiez) to choose from. Journey time: approx. 4 hours
Geneva Airport
There are numerous train connections (with a change in Bern) to choose from. Journey time: approx. 4.5 hours
From Interlaken Ost
The Berner Oberland Railway from platform 2A takes you to Lauterbrunnen. From there, you can reach Mürren either directly via the Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway or via the world’s steepest cable car, the Schilthornbahn, from Stechelberg.
