The Mürrenbach Falls is one of many waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

The via ferrata is also used as an access point for
base jumping, as the ‘Via Ferrata’ jump-off point is located below the post office.
It is just one of around 10 jump points on the Mürrenfluh. Every year, around 500
base jumpers jump from the 400 to 730 metre high
rock faces in the Lauterbrunnen valley, which is
which is known worldwide as the Mecca of jumpers.

Base jumping is subject to self-regulation. If other jumpers misbehave, talk to them! Please do not give advice to jumpers you do not know: You don't know

Security

Always call Air-Glaciers (+41 33 8 560 560)
before you jump Yellow Ocean, La Mousse, High La Mousse, Dumpster, all Nose Exits or
Melchstuhl (Jungfrau).

The Air-Glaciers helicopters fly close to the rock face (according to strictly prescribed flight routes). If you do not book your jump
your jump by telephone, you are putting yourself and the helicopter team in mortal danger. In addition
you are committing a criminal offence that will cost you 6,000
Swiss francs or more.
Tell Air-Glaciers: Name of the jump site, number of jumpers, type of jump (slick, track or wingsuit). If you have not jumped 2 minutes after the call:

Rules

  • Do not fly over the heliport of Air-Glaciers, do not pull your glider over Air-Glaciers, do not land on their property.

  • Nose exits: Do not fly over houses, do not pull the glider over houses. Jumping at night is prohibited.

  • Construction of the new Schilthorn cable car: Every jump from Via Ferrata, Flower Box, Perkele, High/Low Ultimate must be registered by telephone with Air-Glaciers.

  • Do not pack your parachute on the grounds of the church

  • Do not drive from the Horner Pub to the Nose landing site
    (General driving ban for motorised vehicles and motorbikes).

  • All Staubbach jumps are closed.

  • Tandem base jumping is prohibited.

  • Camping is only permitted on official campsites.

  • Before you start jumping, you have to register online and buy a landing card. You can get one for 40 Swiss francs online or in cash in Lauterbrunnen (Horner Pub, tourist office, Alpinebase Hostel). The landing card is valid for 12 months (January to December).

  • We strongly recommend that you have a valid parachute licence and health and liability insurance if you are jumping in Switzerland.

  • Become a REGA patron. You pay CHF 40 per year for membership. In most cases, it covers the costs of a helicopter rescue in Switzerland. Don't forget to download the REGA app on your phone

  • Dial 1414 if you are in distress or witness an accident. Stop jumping immediately and step back from the jump site so as not to endanger the rescue services (falling stones, etc.).
